Listowel Stays Alive In Playoffs

The Listowel Cyclones are still breathing in their opening round playoff series with Kitchener. They beat the Dutchmen 5-4 at home in game 4 to move the series to 3-1.

Memorial Arena didn't have much to cheer for in the first, the visitors took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

Special teams were the key in the win. Listowel found the net back to back with a man up in the second period to take a lead. Brad Yowert and Derek Elliot scored the goals on the way to a night where the Cyclones were 3 for 7 on the power-play.

Kitchener would have an answer in the frame, scoring 22 seconds apart to take a 3-2 lead into the third.

Once again the power play lived up to it's name for Listowel. Ben VanOotegham buried it early in the period on a setup by Tanner Mighton. The play began to shift following the goal with the Cyclones managing to bury their chances. Ray McFalls and Chad Lemire added to the scoring for a 5-3 lead late in the final period

Kitchener would add one more in the final frame with an extra attacker, but that was all they could manage. Ryan Hergott kept the door shut late on route to making 35 saves in the win.

The series heads back to Kitchener for game 5 on Thursday. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
