Cyclones Frustrate Sugar Kings In Shootout Loss

The Listowel Cyclones continue to be tough to score on but also struggled on offence in a 2-1 shootout loss against Elmira.

Listowel came in a night after beating Brantford 4-1 to keep rolling in a month where they have allowed only 11 goals. The last meeting between the teams saw the Cyclones keep the top ranked Sugar Kings to a one goal game in a 3-2 loss.

Elmira got the scoring going in the first with Chad Herron potting the Sugar Kings only goal. The host Cyclones responded on the power play, Brady Anderson got credit, assisted by Ben Shelley.

Regulation would not see another goal, with goaltenders Ryan Hergott (Listowel) and Jonathan Reinhart combining for over 60 saves.

In the shootout, Ryan Hergott would get the better of Zach Coulter while Brady Anderson found the net. The Sugar Kings would then score their next two goals while Listowel shooters Jamie Huber and Garrett James were unable to find the net.

Only one game remains before the beginning of playoffs against Kitchener. Listowel takes on the Waterloo Siskins Sunday.
