Tankard Qualifying Comes To Wingham

Wingham Curling Club will host a big event in the new year.

The regional qualifying round of the Ontario Tankard sweeps into town on January 3 and 4. The Tankard serves as the Southern Ontario Championship.

The winning rink and runner up will move on to Dorchester for the main tournament which picks an Ontario representative for the Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary.

Some of the curlers competing include nationally ranked rinks of Pat Ferris, Joe Frans, Scott Macdonald and Wayne Tuck.

The rink of Brent Ross from Harriston and Jon St. Denis out of Listowel, who are also in the top 100, make up the local contingent.
