Blyth native Alex Peters has been ruled out of Thursday's matchup between the OHL and Team Russia due to injury.
The CHL announced the Plymouth Whalers captain will be replaced by Mitch Vande Sompel of the Oshawa Generals.
Vande Sompel, a 17-year-old from London, is tied for first in scoring among OHL defencemen with 19 points in 16 games. He is one of three Generals who are late additions to the OHL side.
Peter's injury appears to be long term, he has been sidelined since October with what appears to be a knee injury.
The OHL will take on a Russian team that beat the WHL twice this week without Peters.
