Goderich hands out nine Citizen Recognition Awards

The Town of Goderich honoured nine residents with their the annual Citizen Recognition Awards.

The awards were handed out at the final council meeting for this term on November 2.

Mayor Trevor Bazinet said all of the recipients made the Town a better place to live.

"On behalf of council and the Town of Goderich, it is my privilege to recognize nine outstanding individuals, whose contributions have strengthened our community," he said. "People go above and beyond, no matter if it's volunteering for service clubs, getting involved at an outdoor rink, or picking up garbage down at our watefront... This evening we acknowledge individuals whose actions have made a positive and lasting impact in Goderich."

The nine people recognized were Earl Pennington, Colleen McGregor, Barney Purser, Vicky Culbert, Doug Cruickshank, Kiara Markle, Ayub Khan, Briana Rogers, and Kirsten Berg.

"Without all of you, and many more that we've recognized the past three years, we don't have a beautiful town to call our home," said Bazinet. "I think a lot of that has to do with the simple fact that we have so many wonderful volunteers that are willing to go above and beyond."

The nomination period for Citizen Recognition Awards runs each summer, usually from the start of June to the end of August.
