$40M Grey County lotto ticket could become Canada's second largest unclaimed prize

By the end of Wednesday, a $40 million lottery ticket sold in Grey County will either be validated or become the country's second largest unclaimed prize.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) said the winning Lotto Max ticket from the October 28, 2025 draw will expire at the end of the day on Wednesday if no one comes forward to claim it.

"A prize of this size approaching its expiry date is exceptionally rare," OLG said in a statement issued on Tuesday. "OLG remains hopeful that the rightful ticket holder will come forward before it expires on October 28 and claim what could be a life-changing $40 million windfall."

The winning numbers on the ticket are 06, 14, 17, 19, 26, 43, 45, with Bonus Number 27.

While the ticket was sold in Grey County, OLG is stressing it doesn't mean it was purchased by a local resident. The ticket holder could be a cottager, a day-tripper or someone just driving through the county. As such, lottery players are encouraged to check their jacket pockets, vehicles, travel bags and anywhere else they stash tickets.

Should the ticket go unclaimed the $40 million prize will be returned to the Lotto Max prize pool for future bonus games or promotions. It would also become Canada's second largest unclaimed Lotto Max prize, behind a $70 million winning ticket from the June 28, 2022 draw. That unclaimed ticket was sold in Scarborough, Ontario.
