Huron County Library to host digital media literacy workshops

The Huron County Library is set to host a trio of sessions on digital media literacy.

The county says that as AI, disinformation, and misinformation continue to become more common, it is important to have the tools to recognize what is and isn't authentic online.

Participants will learn practical tools and strategies for evaluating online information, identifying misleading content, and making informed decisions about the credibility of digital sources.

The free workshops will be hosted at the Alice Munro Branch in Wingham on Monday, October 26 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. The next session will be at the Goderich Branch on Wednesday, October 28 from 6:30-7:45 p.m. The final session will be at the Exeter Branch on Thursday, October 29 from 2:30-3:45 p.m.

The workshops are being held as part of Media Literacy Week. The workshops are designed for adults but those aged 12 and older are welcome to attend.

Registration is encouraged by contacting the host branch. For branch contact information, visit: https://www.huroncountylibrary.ca/locations/.

"These workshops will provide a great opportunity for participants to build essential digital media literacy skills that can be used in their everyday online activities," said Jim Seale, Programming and Community Engagement Coordinator with the Library.
