Numerous tenants displaced after apartment fire

A fire at an apartment building in Bruce County has displaced numerous tenants.

The blaze took place Friday at 915 Huron Terrace in Kincardine.

Two Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services stations responded to the scene and got the fire under control, with help from Huron-Kinloss fire teams.

The Davidson Centre was opened as a temporary evacuation centre for residents who were displaced, offering support, shelter and information.

Bruce County and the Municipality of Kincardine report that all displaced residents have now found or have been supported in securing safe temporary accommodations.

No injuries have been reported.

Bruce County and the Municipality of Kincardine thanked the broader community for their help during the incident.

"The assistance provided by residents, businesses, community organizations, local service providers, Victim Services Bruce Grey and the Canadian Red Cross has helped tenants access safe temporary accommodation and meet other immediate needs," said a statement.

Restoration work has already begun, but there is still no news on the extent of repairs needed or the timeline of restorations.
