Wellington North election ballots delayed in mail

Wellington North residents are being advised that municipal election ballots will arrive later than expected after a delay in the mailing process.

The township issued an update Monday, October 5, 2026 saying it became aware of the problem late last week.

"The Township became aware late last week that the mailing of election ballots had been delayed," the notice said. "The issue has since been rectified, and ballots are expected to begin arriving in mailboxes this week."

Wellington North is using a vote-by-mail system for the October 26 municipal and school board election.

The township acknowledged the delay could cause concern for voters waiting for their packages.

"We understand that receiving your ballot later than expected may be concerning," the municipality said.

Once ballots arrive, residents planning to return them through Canada Post are being asked to mail them back before October 15.

Completed ballots can also be placed in the secure election ballot drop box at the municipal office in Kenilworth or returned there in person during regular office hours.

The township will also hold two advance voting opportunities.

The first is Saturday, October 10 at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex, followed by another on October 17 at the Arthur and Area Community Centre.

Officials are reminding residents that election ballots should only be left at specifically designated election return locations.

Anyone needing assistance with their ballot is being asked to contact the Township of Wellington North.
