Update: One suspect in custody after Hanover shooting

One person is in custody after a shooting in Hanover Tuesday afternoon that left a man with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly before noon, the Hanover Police Service responded to a report of a shooting at a residence near the intersection of 14th Avenue and Ninth Street.

According to police, an altercation occurred between two men that were known to each other that led to the shooting.

The victim, a 37-year-old man was taken to local hospital for treatment of gun shot wounds.

A 50-year-old man was taken into custody a short time later in connection with the incident. He will be held for a bail hearing Wednesday.

The Hanover and District Hospital, as well as schools in the area, were placed under a brief hold and secure following the incident.

Hanover Police are asking for the public’s help in locating and identifying a black van that was seen leaving the area immediately after the shooting.
