Impaired driving charges have been laid against a 15-year-old following a crash that sent a vehicle down an embankment to the shore of Georgian Bay and injured one person.
According to Owen Sound police, the vehicle left 3rd Avenue West just after 2 a.m. on Sunday, travelled across a grassy shoulder before plunging approximately 20 feet down the embankment to the shoreline.
Two of the three people inside the vehicle took off running. However, police quickly found them.
One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the other two were assessed by paramedics.
A 15-year-old, who cannot be identified due to his young age, is charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, taking a vehicle without consent, and driving without a licence.
The teen has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges next month.
