Hanover Police say they reunited a local child with his stolen bike, after arresting a 24-year-old man who allegedly stole from numerous local stores.
On Tuesday, police received a report of someone shoplifting from a business on 10th Street that occurred Monday.
The man had concealed over $200 worth of merchandise in a backpack before leaving the store without making any attempt to pay. However, employees were able to recover the merchandise.
Police said the suspect was identified, and later located riding a bike that was stolen from a local school earlier that day.
The 24-year-old from Gorrie was arrested and allegedly found to be in possession of stolen merchandise from three other stores. He is facing charges including multiple counts of theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with probation.
He was later released from custody with a court date in Walkerton.
Police said the bike was returned to the rightful 13-year-old owner.
