Perth County OPP arrested and charged a Mitchell man after a botched break-and-enter attempt.
On September 17, patrolling OPP officers were conducting property crime-focused patrols on Clarke Street in Mitchell just before 11 p.m. According to police, officers saw an individual breaking into a secured area.
Police chased the individual on foot and eventually apprehended the suspect. Officers recovered some stolen property which was later returned to the owner.
As a result, a 38-year-old Mitchell man has been charged with break-and-enter, theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The accused was released from custody and is now scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on December 22, 2026 to answer to his charges.
