Parks Canada has extended the closure of the Cyprus Lake Campground in Bruce Peninsula National Park until the end of October following increased black bear activity.
Officials have reported that multiple bears have been attracted to human food and trash left unsecured at campsites, prompting safety concerns for visitors.
Wildlife officers are actively working to deter the animals and monitor the area before re-opening. Campers are reminded to store all food, coolers, and scented items inside vehicle trunks or bear-resistant lockers, and to practice proper food safety while visiting the park.
"Parks Canada will continue to assess bear activity and communicate with reservation holders and the public if further closures are needed," noted a statement from Parks Canada.
Grotto parking reservations and day use areas remain open.
Backcountry campers are required to park at Halfway Log Dump until further notice.
