The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority's (ABCA) Water Response Team has lifted the Level 1 Low Water Advisory for the Ausable River watershed.
There are now no Low Water Advisories in the watershed now. According to the ABCA, water levels across the watershed responded well to an increase in heavy rainfall at the end of August.
One of the key indicators of improving conditions is the return of base-flows to local watercourses. The recent improvement of stream flow is an overall positive sign for local watershed conditions.
The ABCA thanked both industries and individuals who voluntarily reduced their water usage in response to the recent Low Water Advisory. The Water Response Team includes representatives of major water users, such as aggregate industries like agriculture and golf and recreation. It also includes local municipal representatives and staff of provincial ministries.
