Treasure hunters may pick up some vintage finds at the former Talisman Mountain Ski Resort, where history is up for grabs, and the price tag is absolutely zero.
The Bruce Trail Conservancy will host a unique “free sale” on Friday, September 11, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., clearing out items from the iconic lodge property as it transitions into its next chapter as the Talisman Forest Nature Reserve.
Attendees entering via Talisman Mountain Drive will find parking and a designated central collection area packed with leftover resort goods, although the original hotel structures and surrounding grounds will remain closed off for safety.
Whether you are looking to furnish a spare room or spruce up a garden, there is a surprising variety of items available, strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
"There will be chairs, small tables, desks, dressers, ironing boards, luggage racks, and more. Items will be available as-is on a first-come, first-served basis," according to the Conservancy. "If you are looking for furniture, please bring a vehicle large enough to transport your items."
Green thumbs are also in luck, as landscaping plants such as hostas and hydrangeas are up for harvesting; just remember to pack your own shovel, pots, and gardening tools to dig them up. Every item and plant must be removed directly from the property during the four-hour event, as no holds or late pickups will be permitted.

While admission and all designated goods are completely free, visitors can choose to support the ongoing preservation of this beloved landscape.
