Stratford police are reminding the public of the dangers of driving on closed roads after a serious crash south of the city.
According to police, a driver went around a road closure sign on Perth Road 113 at Line 26 and collided with a tree that had fallen across the roadway around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.
"There were no injuries to the driver of the vehicle, however the airbags were deployed and the windshield smashed," police said.
The driver is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with driving on a closed roadway.
Many roads in Perth South had to be closed because of downed trees and hydro lines that fell during Wednesday night's intense line of storms. As of late Thursday morning, Perth Road 113 between Line 20 and Line 26 remained closed.
"We ask everyone to be patient while crews continue to work hard to clean all roadways in our area to ensure that safe travel can occur once again," police said.
