Following an investigation into numerous vehicle entries and thefts from those vehicles, the Hanover Police Service has charged two suspects.
According to Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll, officers began investigating after a number of vehicle entries and thefts that occurred throughout a residential subdivision in the northeast end of Hanover during the early morning hours of August 15.
Officers pinpointed two male suspects entering and attempting to enter vehicles parked in driveways. Police say a wallet containing credit cards was stolen along with an undisclosed amount of cash, personal items, and tools. The stolen credit cards were later used to make purchases at two businesses in Hanover.
As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old man from Mildmay and a 35-year-old man from Hanover have both been arrested and charged with numerous offences, including fraud, theft under $5,000, and unauthorized use of credit card, among other charges. The Hanover man was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody, while the Mildmay man was released on conditions with a court date in November.
Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables and report suspicious activity immediately.
