Bruce County is warning residents of an online scam using its likeness to try and take advantage of people.
The County said it has become aware of fraudulent emails circulating that appear to originate from Bruce County email accounts. The emails may contain invoices, Bruce County logos, branding, or other details designed to appear legitimate.
On one occasion, the sender requested payment through an e-transfer to an external email address.
Bruce County says it is actively investigating these incidents and encourages residents to remain vigilant. The County will never request payment through an e-transfer, and does not accept e-transfers as payment.
