For the second time this summer, a popular Owen Sound beach has been flagged due to high bacteria levels.
Grey Bruce Public Health announced Kelso Beach at Nawash Park is unsafe for swimming after recent testing found E. coli levels exceeding what is considered acceptable under Ontario Ministry of Health standards.
Beachgoers and their pets are urged to stay out of the water as swimming and playing in water with elevated bacteria levels can cause minor skin, eye, ear, nose or throat infections or stomach illness.
The park's splash pad and washrooms are not included in the advisory as they are connected to a municipally treated water supply.
The no-swim advisory will remain in place until future testing shows bacteria levels have subsided. The water will be resampled on Thursday.
A similar advisory was issued for Kelso Beach at the end of July. It was lifted on August 5.
