Hit-and-run northwest of Lion's Head leaves flag worker with minor injuries

An 80-year-old driver is facing charges after a traffic controller at a construction site northwest of Lion's Head was hurt in a hit-and-run. 

Grey Bruce OPP were called about the incident at the intersection of Highway 6 and Caudle Side Road in Northern Bruce Peninsula shortly after 2:30 p.m. last Thursday.

Police said the flag worker was directing traffic when they were hit by a vehicle that did not stop.

Injuries were minor, police added.

Following an investigation, an 80-year-old from Northern Bruce Peninsula is charged with careless driving and failure to remain at the scene of a collision. The accused will appear in Owen Sound court in relation to the charges at a later date.

Police said the incident is a reminder that road safety is everyone's responsibility and dangerous or aggressive driving should be reported to OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
