West Perth resident facing impaired driving charges after multi-vehicle crash

A West Perth resident has been charged with impaired driving after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash near Kirkton.

On August 11, emergency responders were called to a report of a crash on Road 164 just north of the village of Kirkton.

The crash involved a transport truck and car hauler trailer, an SUV, and a sedan. According to police, officers on the scene determined that the driver of the sedan had consumed alcohol.

That driver was arrested at the scene for impaired driving and allegedly failed a breathalyzer test at OPP headquarters. Minor injuries were reported by some occupants at the scene of the crash.

A 52-year-old from West Perth has been charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving, and was ticketed for failing to wear a seatbelt. Their licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and their vehicle impounded for seven days. They are to appear in court in Goderich on September 21.
