This Friday, Listowel will have an outdoor night market for everyone to come and enjoy, with the goal of supporting local businesses.
The event used to be hosted by the local Business Improvement Association (BIA), but this year Listowel Farm and Maker Market organizer Shelley Buss is taking over running the event. She says this Friday everyone can come down to the Ward and Uptigrove parking lot on Main Street and enjoy a unique local shopping experience.
"This night market used to be called the Block Party, which used to be run through the BIA and myself, but they couldn't this year, so hopefully next year they can. They seem to be going really well and it's something for Listowel to get out and do and enjoy local businesses," Buss explained.
Buss adds that the Listowel Farmer's Market continues on Saturdays, and on October 30 there will be a Spook-tacular Halloween event. Friday's event will be packed with plenty of great local shopping options.
"We have live music, I have four food trucks, I have fresh popcorn. There's also cotton candy, face painting, and other kid's activities. I have 45 vendors. It's a night to just come out, enjoy it with family, do something with the kids, but also shop some local vendors and hear some music," added Buss.
Buss says events like this, and the ongoing Saturday Listowel Farmer's Markets, indoor spring markets, and Christmas market, are critical in terms of supporting local businesses and the community at large.
"My main vendor list is over 250 small businesses. There's so many in Perth County that people don't know about. These events give the option for people to come out and support and know about them. Then they get to know different products that are local and meet new people. It really helps the local businesses because they're all trying to do their own thing, as well," Buss said.
This Friday the Listowel Night Market will be held at the Ward and Uptigrove parking lot on Main Street from 4-8 p.m. More information, including ways to obtain vendor forms, can be found through the Listowel Farm and Maker Market Facebook or Instagram pages.
