The annual Kincardine and Community Hospital Foundation Giving Cruise Day raised over $305,000 for the Kincardine hospital expansion.
A press release from the foundation shares that over $205,000 was donated directly by the community and more than 100 per cent of available matching funds were unlocked during the July 31 Cruise Night.
This year’s Giving Cruise Day began with a generous $50,000 matching challenge from local families Wayne and Janet Palmateer and Dotty McClelland. That was enhanced even more when John and Diane Satosek stepped forward during the event itself to increase the match total to $100,000.
This resulted in a record-setting annual Giving Cruise Day, as the foundation has taken a major step toward funding the local share of the hospital expansion and MRI, two transformational projects that will improve access to care for thousands of patients annually.
The hospital expansion in Kincardine will feature a new entrance and emergency department, enhanced lab, and the region's first MRI machine.
