A swimming advisory has been issued for Kincardine's Station Beach, as well as Point Clark Beach, after routine water testing by Grey Bruce Public Health.
Samples taken Monday by the Health Unit found bacterial levels above acceptable thresholds, and an unsafe for swimming notice has been posted.
GBPH warns that illness or infection is possible when swimming in unsafe water.
The Municipality of Kincardine is advising residents and visitors to avoid swimming until follow-up testing confirms the water is safe. The Municipality said it will share an update as soon as new test results are available.
Further samples will be taken on Thursday at both beach sites. GBPH implements a beach water monitoring program each summer to test the water at high-use beaches in Grey-Bruce for E. coli levels.
"The Lake Huron shoreline area in southern Bruce County has experienced rain and higher wave action recently, which can increase water turbidity and, in turn, E. coli levels," said Senior Public Health Manager Andrew Barton.
