A 42-year-old motorcycle rider is facing 11 charges after an incident involving the Hanover Police Service.
According to Hanover Police Chief Chris Knoll, on July 26 around 5 p.m., officers heard a loud motorcycle revving outside the station. Officers went outside and boxed in the traffic to prevent the motorcycle rider from driving off at the intersection of 10th Street and 7th Avenue.
Officers determined the rider, a 42-year-old Hanover man, has never had a valid driver's license and is prohibited from driving due to several instances where the rider failed to stop for police and engaged officers in pursuits.
While that was being determined, an off-duty officer arrived at the scene and informed his colleagues that the motorcycle rider had just been observed driving at high speeds, aggressively passing vehicles and other dangerous maneuvers as it traveled eastbound into Hanover.
As a result, the Hanover man is now facing 11 charges including three counts of Driving While Prohibited under the Criminal Code, Dangerous Driving under the Criminal Code, Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Driving Under Suspension and other traffic offences.
He was later released from custody with a court date in Walkerton at a later date and the motorcycle was seized on a 45 day impound.
