The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board (BGCDSB) has awarded the contract to build a new $49 million secondary school in Owen Sound.
The board announced in a press release on Wednesday that the contract has been awarded to Norlon Builders London Ltd. The new school, which is set to be built on 28th Avenue East in Owen Sound, will be a three-storey building that houses Grade 9-12 students.
With approval from the Ontario Ministry of Education to award the contract, the Board intends to formally execute the construction contract upon satisfaction of remaining conditions. Site work is set to begin in August, with groundbreaking intended for this fall.
The new school will serve as a modern replacement for the current St. Mary's Catholic High School, offering dedicated space for 1,012 secondary students.
The total amount of the contracted build is $49,478,000.00 + HST.
