Over $145,000 in funding to support a number of local initiatives in Huron County is coming from numerous provincial government streams.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson announced the funding on Monday. The first funding recipient is the Township of North Huron, which is receiving $55,000 through the Senior Active Living Centre Program to support programs in Wingham and Blyth.
Next, the Township of Howick will receive just shy of $17,000 through the Rural Ontario Development Program. This will go towards the township's Community Improvement and Beautification Plan.
Victim Services of Huron Perth is receiving $32,500 in one-time additional funding through the Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario Program.
Finally, REACH Huron has been awarded $15,720 through the Seniors Community Grant for its project "Eat Well, Live Well Together." The program will host interactive culinary classes that bring seniors together. Also, Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health is receiving $25,000 through the Seniors Community Grant for its "Connect Along the Shore" initiative. That helps seniors learn about and stay connected through technology.
