Fallen trees that damaged buildings and vehicles in Bayfield during an early morning storm at the start of the month were the result of a microburst.
The Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP) confirmed the EF0 microburst was produced around 5:40 a.m. on July 3. EF0 is the weakest rating on the enhanced Fujita scale.
"Satellite imagery review revealed visible areas of weak tree damage in and around the Bayfield area," NTP said.
The fallen trees damaged buildings and vehicles and also affected power lines. No injuries were reported.
It was determined the microburst had an estimated maximum wind speed of 115 kilometres an hour, with a path of destruction approximately 2.7 kilometres long and 1.6 kilometres wide.
