Washrooms closed as renovations begin at Shallow Lake ball diamonds

Renovations have begun for the washrooms at the Shallow Lake Community Centre and Ball Diamonds.

As a result, the washrooms will be closed temporarily until the work is complete. There will be limited access to the community centre’s main floor washroom facilities and guests are asked to use the washrooms located on the second floor.

The Shallow Lake Ball Diamond washroom facilities will also be closed during renovations. There are portable toilets now onsite for the duration of construction.

The existing ground floor washrooms in the foyer will be reconfigured into a gender-neutral space, with improved accessibility features. The former referee changing room, already updated for accessibility, will be transformed into a fully accessible washroom and change area, complete with a shower and adult changing table.

The ball diamond washroom block will be modernized and converted into accessible, gender-neutral facilities. Infant change tables will also be added.

Community members are encouraged to follow all posted signage and any temporary access arrangements while work is underway for their own safety.

The washroom renovation project has an estimated total cost of $400,000, with the goal of being completed by the end of this year.
