Over $42K in drugs seized during Georgian Bluffs traffic stop

A routine traffic stop in Georgian Bluffs ended with police seizing more than $42,000 in suspected illicit drugs.

A Grey Bruce OPP officer was on patrol on Grey Road 3 near Sideroad 3 around 11 a.m. last Saturday when the cruiser's automated licence plate reader picked up a vehicle in violation of the Highway Traffic Act. The officer stopped the vehicle and, while speaking with the driver, spotted what were believed to be cannabis products inside.

That led to a search which turned up 176 grams of suspected cocaine, 199.1 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and 19.4 grams of suspected fentanyl. Police said the estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $42,250.

A 26-year-old Brampton man was arrested without incident. He is charged with three counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, driving while prohibited, and driving with cannabis readily available.

The man appeared for a bail hearing where he was remanded into custody, police said.
