Weather forecasters are keeping an eye on the skies for the possibility of funnel clouds.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Huron, Perth, Elgin, Oxford, and Middlesex Counties.
"These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms," read the statement from Environment Canada. "This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado."
The weather agency added that landspout tornadoes don't typically cause widespread damage, but they still can be dangerous.
Should a funnel cloud develop nearby, take it seriously and find shelter.
