Listowel warehouse fined $70K after worker falls from ladder

An industrial parts supplier has been ordered to pay $70,000 after one of its workers fell from a ladder at a warehouse in Listowel.

Ontario's Ministry of Labour issued the five-figure fine against Ideal Supply Inc. in relation to the May 10, 2025 incident.

A worker had been retrieving items from industrial storage racking at the warehouse at 1045 Wallace Avenue North when they stepped off the rungs prematurely and fell four feet to the ground.

The worker was injured in the fall.

An investigation by the ministry found the worker had not been provided adequate information, instruction, and supervision regarding the safe use of ladders. That is a violation of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the ministry said.

The company pleaded guilty to the offence last month and was fined $70,000. A 25 per cent victim surcharge was also imposed on the Mississauga-based company.

Ideal Supply Inc. operates multiple facilities across the province. Approximately 130 people are employed at its Listowel warehouse.
