Two Owen Sound residents have been charged with drug trafficking after local police executed a search warrant at a downtown residence Thursday.
According to police, investigators recovered 36 grams of Fentanyl and more than $7,000 in cash while searching the apartment on Second Avenue East. The estimated street value of the Fentanyl is approximately $14,800.
As a result of the investigation, a 45-year-old woman and a 73- year-old man have been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.
The charges have not been proven in court.
Both accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Owen Sound Police said "the seizure of fentanyl is particularly significant given the devastating impact this substance continues to have on individuals, families, and communities across Ontario."
They encourage anyone with information regarding drug trafficking to contact the Owen Sound Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
