Saugeen Municpal Airport to host First Responders Day

The Municipality of Brockton is inviting the public to join them at the Saugeen Municipal Airport to celebrate First Responders Day.

On Saturday, June 27 people can come out to the airport for a first hand look at local first responders and their equipment. The event will feature firefighters from Hanover, West Grey, Elmwood and Walkerton who will showcase the equipment and vehicles they use to suppress and prevent fires. Police Officers from the O.P.P., and the Hanover and West Grey Police Services will be available with their cruisers, and Paramedics from both Grey and Bruce County Paramedic Services and their ambulances will be there, as will first aid responders from St. John Ambulance.

Additionally, ORNGE, the provincial air ambulance service and medical transport, plans to be there with their helicopter, as long as they are not called out to an emergency. There are also plans to have Bruce Power’s Emergency Response Team at the event, which is equipped to respond to all types of emergency events, including the unlikely event of a nuclear emergency. Hydro One’s helicopter, an important piece of equipment used in the distribution of electricity across Ontario, is also scheduled to make an appearance from the sky.

The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and will go until 3:00 p.m. on June 27.
