Two people are facing charges after a pair of vehicle stops and the search of a Goderich home turned up illegal drugs.
The Huron-Perth OPP community street crimes unit, with help from the West Region OPP emergency response team and canine unit, stopped a vehicle in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township on June 9 in relation to a drug investigation. Police said the driver was arrested for alleged drug-related offences.
A second vehicle was then stopped in Goderich, and the driver was taken into custody for similar offences.
Officers then searched a home on Gibbons Street in Goderich which turned up roughly $2,240 worth of cocaine. Other offence-related property seized included a vehicle, weigh scales, packaging, a money counter, and cell phones. Nearly $6,000 worth of cash was also found.
A 57-year-old woman from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh is charged with drug possession. A 28-year-old Goderich man is charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking cocaine.
Both have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Goderich court on August 31 regarding the charges.
