Palmerston man facing list of charges following break-and-enter, assault

A 27-year-old Palmerston man is facing a long list of charges after a recent break-and-enter in Palmerston that saw a victim assaulted.

According to Wellington County OPP, on June 14 at 4 a.m., officers responded to a report of an altercation at a residence in Palmerston. Police were told the accused forced their way into the home and assaulted one person once inside. The accused ran from the scene before officers arrived.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was assessed by local EMS personnel. The accused was located and arrested later the same day by police.

A 27-year-old man from Palmerston faces charges including break and enter a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault, flight from peace officer, operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, failure or refusal to comply with demand, mischief, and failing to comply with probation order.

The accused was held in police custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 15.
