For the second year in a row, the Huron Chamber of Commerce has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing chambers in the country.
The Chamber has been ranked the third fastest-growing chamber of commerce in Canada by the Chamber Executives of Canada. It is also the only chamber in its category to finish in the top five in consecutive years.
Executive Director Colin Carmichael says the recognition reflects the support the organization continues to receive from businesses across the county. "This recognition is meaningful because it reflects the confidence local businesses and organizations are placing in the Chamber," said Carmichael. "Growth is not just a number on a list. It strengthens the Chamber’s ability to advocate, to convene, to share useful information, and to create practical opportunities for members."
The recognition comes as the Chamber continues to expand its reach across Huron County. Once centred primarily in Goderich, the organization now serves members in all nine municipalities, including businesses, non-profits, employers, entrepreneurs and community partners.
Board Chair Ken Zelazny says the Chamber's growth reflects the value local organizations see in its work. "The Huron Chamber is delivering a level of service and engagement often associated with much larger organizations," said Zelazny. "Businesses across Huron County clearly recognize that value and are choosing to invest in and support the Chamber’s work."
The Chamber says its focus remains on advocacy, workforce development, networking opportunities, member communications and providing local businesses with practical economic information.
As an independent non-profit organization, the Chamber receives no government funding and is supported through memberships, sponsorships, events and partnerships.
Carmichael says that independence allows the organization to speak directly on issues affecting local employers. "Our role is to make sure those issues are understood in a Huron County context and that the voice of business is part of the conversation," he said.
The Huron Chamber of Commerce says membership remains open to businesses and non-profit organizations of all sizes across the county.
