Four people have been arrested and charged after the Grey Bruce OPP sezied drugs and a loaded gun during a traffic stop in Grey Highlands.
According to police, on June 7 just after 8:30 p.m., officers were doing a routine patrol along Margaret Elizabeth Avenue in Markdale, when the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) camera alerted officers to a vehicle involved in a traffic offence.
Police pulled over the car and smelled cannabis, which led to a search of the vehicle. During that search, officers recovered a loaded 9mm pistol, 36 grams of suspected cocaine and 37 grams of suspected fentanyl.
As a result, all four occupants in the vehicle were arrested. All the occupants are Brampton residents, with three being 19-years-old and one being 22. All the accused are facing a long list of charges that includes unlawful possession of a firearm, possession for the purpose of trafficking and many other charges.
All four accused were held in custody pending a bail hearing on June 8 before the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound. A court date to answer to the charges has not yet been determined.
