The new sports pad in Harriston is up and operational.
On May 11 the Harriston Kinsmen Club held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the brand new pad located right next to the Harriston Arena.
According to the Harriston Kinsmen, over the last year, the club has worked with the Town of Minto while getting a range of support from suppliers and contractors who donated labour, time and materials to make the pad a reality.
The cost of the pad was $135,000. The Harriston Kinsmen fundraised in a handful of ways from events like Tuff Truck, the July baseball tournament, March curling bonspiel and donations of time and materials from contractors.
The new sports pad offers a great spot to play basketball or hockey.
"It fills my heart with pride when my children ask me if they can go meet their friends at the pad to play on it," said past Harriston Kinsmen Club President Curt McDonald. "Ultimately, this was a massive community collaboration fueled by your support of Kinsmen events. We wouldn’t be standing here without each and everyone of you."
