Grey Bruce Public Health have issued an alert to the public after two overdoses were reported on Wednesday in Owen Sound, including one fatal.
According to the Health Unit, the suspected substance in the fatal case is unknown. Information about the identity of the deceased was not shared.
In the non-fatal case, the individual smoked fentanyl and was responsive to naloxone.
The Health Unit continues to encourage all people who use drugs to have naloxone on hand and to always have a sober friend with them who can administer it.
In the event of an overdose, people are encouraged to call 911, as GBPH reminds them that the Good Samaritan Act provides legal protection for those who seek emergency help during an overdose.
