West Grey police are investigating a serious assault that took place just east of Neustadt.
According to investigators, a victim was lured to an abandoned rural property in the area of Grey Road 9 under false pretenses.
The victim was seriously injured due to the assault and has been transported to a hospital by a concerned passerby.
Police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. However, no charges have been laid in connection with the incident.
Anyone who was travelling in the area between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and saw any suspicious activity is asked to contact the West Grey Police Service.
Officers are reminding residents to be cautious when arranging meetings through online marketplaces. The police service advises meeting in a well-lit, public, or communal area, avoiding unfamiliar places alone, and letting someone know where you are going as well as who you are meeting.
