The Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library is once again set to become a hub for comic book fans, gamers, cosplayers, and pop culture enthusiasts.
The 14th annual Owen Sound Mini Con is set for Saturday, May 2, promising a full day of activities, entertainment, and creativity throughout the library. Doors open at 10 a.m., inviting visitors to dive into a celebration of all things fandom.
This year's event features an impressive lineup of attractions, including video game tournaments, board games hosted by Scenic City Game Emporium, an indoor inflatable snowball throw courtesy of Can Do Events, button making, prize draws, and a Pokémon photo wall.
Local creators will once again be a major highlight. Organizers reported that this year's Mini Con will welcome the largest group of exhibitors in the event's history. Sixteen artists and makers will be spread throughout the building, offering everything from Dungeons & Dragons accessories and 3D-printed creations to resin art, colour-changing potions, felt dolls, leatherwork, zines, and original artwork. All exhibitors will have items available for purchase.
Cosplay enthusiasts will have plenty of opportunities to show off their favourite characters. A kids' cosplay parade will take place at 11 a.m., while the main cosplay competition gets underway at 3 p.m. in the auditorium. Registration for the competition will be available throughout the day at the Youth Services Desk.
While most of the event is free to attend, guests are encouraged to bring some spending money if they plan to visit the snack bar, purchase items from vendors, make a button, or make a donation to help support future Mini Con events.
A complete schedule of activities can be found on the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library website.
