The Canadian Tooling and Machining Association (CTMA) has donated two brand-new, industry-standard lathes, valued at over $50,000 to Listowel District Secondary School (LDSS).
This donation came through CTMA's Career-Ready with CTMA program. The lathes are now part of LDSS's Manufacturing Technology classroom.
A media release from Avon Maitland District School Board (AMDSB) says this donation will help "bridge the skills gap in the machine, tool and die and mould sector by providing students with a hands-on learning experience on the same high-precision machinery used by modern machine shops."
This is part of an ongoing effort by CTMA to help students in the AMDSB region learn real-world skills across numerous trades. Over the first 5 phases of the Career-Ready with CTMA program, numerous AMDSB manufacturing programs across the district have received precision machining equipment such as CNC milling machines and routers.
