Stratford man arrested after weapons call at a Hanover park

Hanover police have arrested a 24-year-old man on multiple charges after getting a complaint about erratic behaviour.

Officers were first called at around 8 a.m. on Wednesday to a convenience store on 10th Street in Hanover. They were able to identify a suspect, who fled before police arrived.

Later on Wednesday, police were dispatched to Town of Hanover Park on 7th Avenue after getting a call about a man acting strangely, shouting, and stabbing a table. Officers were able to contain the suspect and arrest him without incident.

The man from Stratford is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of a dangerous weapon, and three counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

"The Hanover Police Service would like to thank those who called the police for the incident at the Hanover Park before it escalated further," said Chief Christopher Knoll.

The charges have not been proven in court. The suspect was released with conditions and must appear at Walkerton Criminal Court.
