The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance (LWHA) is looking for new volunteers to join its board of directors.
A media release from the LWHA states that the board is "made up of engaged and dedicated community members who bring diverse perspectives and a shared commitment to strengthening local hospitals and rural health care."
The organization is asking for applications for new board members, and the LWHA says it is seeking applicants with various backgrounds, especially those with lived experience as a patient or a care partner.
Ideally, potential board members would have experience or knowledge in areas such as board governance, business management, government and government relations, health care administration and policy, patient and health care advisory, political acumen, public affairs and communication, research, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, or information technology.
Mentorship is provided to new board members to help them get settled in. Board Members begin their term at the Annual Meeting on June 25, 2026. Applicants must reside in Huron or Perth counties and be prepared to attend monthly board meetings, excluding July, August, and December.
To express interest in applying, visit the LWHA website to submit an application at https://lwha.ca/Board2026/. Applications are due by May 3, 2026.
"Local hospitals are the beating heart of our communities, here to serve every resident in their time of need," said Stacey Ash, Chair Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance. "The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance relies on the input and expertise of its volunteer Board Members to help determine the future of local healthcare. I’d encourage anyone committed to strong, rural hospitals to consider applying to become part of the Alliance Board."
