Owen Sound police have charged a man with assault and robbery following an incident during a store theft.
According to police, on Sunday, a shopkeeper reported a man stealing goods. When the employee approached the man, the suspect allegedly punched the worker in the face.
The shopkeeper has been transported to a hospital after sustaining significant injuries. Officers say the victim has received emergency treatment, including surgery.
The suspect, a 29-year-old man, has been arrested and charged with robbery, aggravated assault, theft, and breach of probation.
He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
