A fourth person has been arrested in relation to a string of break-and-enters in Meaford, Grey Highlands, and Southgate Township.
Grey Bruce OPP announced on Thursday that a 25-year-old from Port Colborne is charged with one count each of careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Police launched an investigation into the break-ins at homes and businesses in the region last August. That probe led investigators to a business on Bell Circle in Dundalk on March 24, as well as a second location on 7th Line in Meaford. According to police, approximately $43,000 worth of stolen property was located at the two locations. The stolen goods included power tools, chainsaws, a welder, and a .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle.
A 19-year-old and an 18-year-old from Grey Highlands, and a 35-year-old man from Melancthon were arrested and charged late last month in connection with the break-ins.
The owners of most of the stolen property have been identified.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
