Saugeen Shores hotel disturbance leads to assault charge

A South Bruce man is accused of assaulting and threatening a person at a hotel in Saugeen Shores.

Police were called about a disturbance at the local hotel around 10 a.m. on Monday. When officers arrived, yelling could be heard. They located two men engaged in a dispute and placed one under arrest. Other officers at a second location at the hotel began speaking with witnesses.

As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old South Bruce man is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, mischief under $5,000, failure to complete with release order, and two counts of failure to comply with probation.

The man has been remanded into custody with a future court date, police said.

Police did not publicly identify the hotel where the alleged incident took place or the type of weapon used in the assault.
