Human Trafficking Awareness Day town halls coming to South Bruce

Human Trafficking Awareness Day will be marked by a pair of informational town halls in South Bruce.

Officially recognized since 2021, Human Trafficking Awareness Day is marked every February 22. South Bruce OPP will be hosting community town hall events to help the public learn more about human trafficking and its impacts locally and globally.

The first will be Wednesday, March 4 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, and the second will be Wednesday, March 11 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Walkerton Arena.

According to OPP data, 58 per cent of reported human trafficking cases in Canada occur in Ontario, and 25 per cent of known victims are under the age of 18. Human trafficking remains one of the fastest growing crimes in the country.

Attendees at the town halls will learn to recognize the signs of human trafficking and how to report it to authorities.

Additional information concerning the signs of human trafficking can be found on the OPP website.
